Orthotics

Orthoses provide force from the outside onto the body and offer
stabilization,immobilization, relief and/or correction.

The traditional terms "supporting apparatus" or "joint bars" refer more specifically to one part of the construction and to orthoses that are custom-manufactured by orthopedic technicians. Their field of application includes trunk orthoses for the correction of spine curvatures and paralysis orthoses  for lower extremities that are made from plaster models.

Standard, serial-produced orthosis constructions are generally applied for temporary use after operations and injuries. These Modular Orthoses consist of functional elements that are implemented at the fitting. A careful selection of sizes and the constructive design of the body form parts and adjustment units allow for a patient-friendly adjustment. In addition, modular orthoses enable variable functions such as movement limitation for post-operative knee orthoses or shoulder joint adjustments for arm abduction orthoses.
